This Is The Day ~ or The Sampler A'fire

Don't you think this is the "little sampler that could," by now? Sioban, Nicole, Lizzy, Katrina, Vonna...and I am stitching it!! Who else has fallen prey to its charms? This is going to be a fun project. I saw that Katrina wants to add more people and to start a Group. Anybody else interested??

Above is my own selection of threads...my expression of the sampler. I've pulled from GAST, Belle Soie, Gloriana, Weeks and Silk 'n Colors. Couldn't resist the sheen of silks. I decided to make the background of the top alphabet a light blue instead of the cream color. I'm going to leave the lower, numbered section without a background filler, I think.

After working hours on my Beatrix Potter Sampler today I hardly seemed to get anywhere! I don't know why...just one of those days when the chart wouldn't coordinate with my eyes and hand, I guess.

I was watching a beautiful 1800's timeframe movie called "Valmont," that takes place in France, so my eyes weren't particularly focused on my stitching. The silk dresses and furnishings in that movie are just scrumtious. It starred Colin Firth, Annette Bening, Meg Tilly and others...run out and get it if it's not on your tv!!

My plan is to start finishing some of my WIPs this Spring and Summer. I have some that are so nearly finished. Kathy A. has kindly allowed me to join with her and others in a Mirabilia SAL group so I can get some inspiration and encouragement to finish Jessica's "Mermaid of the Pearls," which I promised her 2 yrs. ago!!

I'm just dying to start some oldie classics like: The Plantation Sampler, and Moira Blackburn's Time and Seasons.... These are ones I've been promising to stitch for several years but haven't even put needle to linen, though they are already kitted up.

Do you have pieces kitted up that you haven't stitched yet? What are they?
If you start one or two of them, I will, too!! Somebody start a group for us, pleeeease!!! We have to get going before time leaves us blind as bats (a quote from my 93 yr. old Aunt Manthie!). :) *"Manthie was a pet name for Amantha.

Happy weekend! Deb

Looking forward to seeing this one Deb!

I have nothing kitted up to start at the moment but really do want to get through some of my charts as I have so many!! I'm trying to be good and buy no more for a while but it's so tempting! LOL!

Sorry to hear about your son's dog Hollie. I will keep her in my prayers.

Ha, a couple of days ago I ordered the magazine with the sampler and I think I'll be stitching it soo. Yous thread choices look terrific.
Of course, I have several projects that I kitted up years ago and ven't started yet, or just put in a couple of stitches, like DT's Sanctuary, and Moira Blackburn's Time and Season and many more that are tucked away in a special box. But I know that one day, one day when work won't always get in the way, I will get to stitch them.

Yeah, there sure does seem to be a lot of people working on that sampler! It IS a nice one. Your version looks like it's going to be lovely, also! As for kitted projects...I have more than I wish to share... I seem to kit things right away because I'm afraid that maybe a fiber will get discontinued, or a fabric or something. Then if I make changes later, then fine. I just don't want to be left without the original choices later...

Just LOVE your floss toss there, Deb! And yes, that's a sampler that I'd love to do someday, too. It's gorgeous!

I do love this piece, I am not actually starting a group :-). There were so many ladies stitching it, I felt the need to start it too, LOL. I am actually hopin got finish mine this week. I can't put it down. What I love about this piece is everyone's variations on it. It's fun to see all the different palettes people are chosing to stitch it.

I have a lot of things kitted, I think my next focus piece will probably be either Mary Peacock or ABC Hornbook and then after that And All was for an Appil. Oh and I have the Eve Sunday school lesson by Plum Street Samplers kitted and I ordered Shepherd's Bush conversion for Plum Street Samplers Still Water.

I am working on small things for exchanges right now but I have quite a few things kitted up but alas not this one because I couldn't figure out how to do it without using the words. I really do love it though. Can't wait to see your one started because I truly love the colors you have chosen. Lots and lots of Love Patti xxx

I have a long list of things at the back of my mind that I really want to stitch, but I'm trying to be very good and finish what I'm working on at the moment and then I have an RR to stitch on. So, Deb, please don't tempt me into more new starts! LOL

I blame Siobhan for the frenzy on this one! I think I saw hers first. I'm still waiting for my fabric and then I'm jumping in headfirst too and I'll stitch alongside all of you!

I may have to jump in on this one too! I'm going for Jan's color pallet, I think. Either way though, this is starting to scream louder and louder. There are just so many things I want to stitch ~ not nearly enough time!

Deb, so glad you have your personal version of this ever so special sampler, ready to go!! I hope to finish mine this week, but that might be a stretch!! Will look forward to seeing yours progress!

I have so many things kitted, that it is obsessive...not the projects, but the person (me) that had to have them kitted up and ready!! I do have Time and Season as one of my WIPS and I am very embarassed to say it is years old!! May have to pull it out, snap a picture and post it on my blog. It is lovely!

Hi Deb, just wanted to drop by and wish yu all a very happy Easter.
I have seen that sampler This is the Day on a few blogs. It is lovely. What book is it out of?
I have also seen The Plantation Sampler which is really lovely on Tanyas blog The Scarlet House. She has just finished and framed it and it is lovely.
I only have 3 kitted up and ready to go. Trouble is when I get towards the end of finishing one sampler, I can never make up my mind which one to do.
Have been catching up watching a few different versions of Pride and Prejudice that I have. I still think the the BBC series with Colin Firdth is still the best. Ah Mr. Darcy. lol. - have a lovely Easter - Sandra.

Deb, the threads you have picked out are so pretty!! I can't wait to see your start! And that is a great quot from Aunt Manthie - That's the reason I could never be a one-at-a-time stitcher. Life is too short!! :)

Oooh, you've succumbed to This Is The Day! I had so much fun stitching it. I can't wait to see your rendition of it--I love the threads you've chosen for it!

Ah, what have I kitted up and not started. ROFLOL. Umm, it's easier to say what I have not yet kitted up!! Eek. I have an overflowing tote bag and a rubbermaid container full of 'I must stitch this right now this very instant' samplers. Moira Blackburn's Time & Season is on that list--it is so pretty! Your BPQ is coming along great!

Your thread choices look great! I'd be so tempted to join this one with you, but unfortunately, I've got more projects going right now than I can get to in a month. Now, if you want to start that finishing group, I'm all there. I think it's the curse (cure?) for dedicated (weak-willed?) crafters to keep a constant eye out for potential projects. Why else would we call them stashes? lol

Those thread choices are pretty!

I don't like kitting up projects so I usually don't get to that part until I start them. My goal this year is to finish up some sets of seasons that I have finished 2 or 3 off and just have one season left to do. I think I have 3 summer samplers and one fall, what's up with that?

Valmont is an awesome movie!

I too love this design...Don't know if I can start it just yet though, I will see. I adore the colours you chose and I would have to stitch it in silks, also...Have a lovely Easter
